Neil Humphreys arrived in Singapore in 1996 with a suitcase, no job and very little money to stay with a Singaporean friend from university. Within five years, he was a best-selling author. He has since written 27 books.
His works on Singapore - from Notes from an Even Smaller Island (2001) to Saving a Sexier Island: Notes from an Old Singapore (2015) – are among the most popular titles in the last 20 years.
His new children’s book series, PRINCESS INCOGNITO, is in a funny, contemporary middle grade series. There are six best-selling titles and he gives popular talks and workshops on writing at schools and colleges across Asia. He has also written several episodes of Mind Blown (2021), an entertaining, educational TV show for children. One of his episodes won a bronze award at the New York Festivals TV and Film Awards 2022.
A popular columnist, Humphreys also writes extensively for newspapers and magazines in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and the UK. A football writer for 25 years, Humphreys covered Euro 2004 in Portugal, the World Cup 2014 in Brazil and Euro 2016 in France and has interviewed everyone from David Beckham to a naked Grand Slam tennis legend.
When Neil is not writing or hosting, he's cycling along the coast or annoying his daughter.
